CAREGIVING

                                                                      Application closed!

Demande:

We are looking for a Tagalog speaking female to help care for my mother from now until early November, or for as long a period as possible during that time frame.

My mother’s name is Paz. She is 66 years old and has Alzheimer’s. My father, Louis, is the primary caretaker. As I, and my other siblings, are leaving next week, we would like to find them some additional help for the rest of the time they will be here. Paz is fairly easy to care for. She has no memory and will get confused if she is left alone. She needs to be supervised 24/7. As my father needs to run errands, do things around the house, or just have some personal time, we need an extra person who can help supervise her. Paz really likes music and singing (a big plus if the caretaker likes to sing). Sing her a song shes familiar with, and she smiles and laughs instantly.

They are staying in a house in Thurins, about 20 kilometers west of Lyon. The house itself has several bedrooms, wireless internet, cable, and telephone. It has a nice property with a large back yard, a vegetable garden, and several fruit trees. There is a courtyard with additional parking space if needed.

On 05 December, 2010 the Filipino community in Lyon will host the most important religious activity in the whole of Europe. A replica of Our Lady of La Naval de Manila has been donated to the Basilica of Lyon, France, which is not only one of the biggest economic centers in France but also the city where there is the biggest Catholic community in the country. This project has been spearheaded by the Philippine Embassy in Paris under the aegis of Her Excellency Rora Navarro-Tolentino, the Philippine Ambassador Extraordinaire to France. The image of the Virgin Mary will be formally installed in the crypt of the city of Lyon’s basilica, Fourvière, to permanently join other images of the Virgin Mary from 10 different countries. Cardinals Philippe Barbarin and Gaudencio Rosales of Lyon and Manila respectively will concelebrate the Holy Mass on that day concerating our status in one of the most vital monuments of the Roman Catholic Church in France.

The Vice-Rector of the Basilica of Fourvière, Rev. Father Loys de Saint Chamas, is the Overall Chairman of this historic day and ably assisted by the catholic parishioners of this city. He has been instrumental in forging the sense of belongingnes to one root among the Filipino residents here eventually federating the parishioners into a solid community. His genuine devotion for the Filipinos in general sprang back from the time he spent a few months in the Philippines to undertake his mission to work with the catholic church’s flock here and around the world.

The ceremony will be carried out as follows :

2:00 P.M. Gathering and Formation of the Procession Participants
3:00 P.M. Concelebrated Mass, Basilica of Fourviere
4:30 P.M Reception at the premises of the Basilica

The 2nd Annual Filipino Sharing Session

July 26th, 2010 by Liz, President(e)

Hi,

Last July 25, 2010, at Basilica of Fourviere, Lyon

The 2nd Annual Filipino Annual Sharing Session was really went well, and for that I would like to thank you for your presence.

The mass was celebrated by Father Loys de Saint Chamas on Sunday, July 25,2010. Some of us gathered together before the mass during lunch to celebrate Thomas’s Birthday.

Just after the mass, we proceeded to the sharing session we have talked about the following:

  • The Proposition about the Protection of Mother Mary de la Naval
  • Contributions, generating funds
  • Meaning of the La naval

We have noted that La naval means = boat, navire, the first christians arrived in Lyon by the river La Saone and Rhone.

We also kept that one meaning is symbolize our Baptism.

Take note, before, they use to punish people by putting them in the boat and let them sail where the water brings them. Thay could survive and stop in other places or islands.

Mother Mary la Naval, has protected Manila during the several attacks of the Dutch Navire to conquer the city for a center market port without success until they lost the life of their General.

We were 34 attendees who gave their attention to this annual journey dedicated to our FAITH.

Reminder:

For the 20 euros contribution for logistics of December 5 Event, please send to:

Grace Zehr, Montee des Plagnes 01600 REYRIEUX

Thank you very much, God Bless all!
