Good day, everyone. My name is Liz Maquet. I am happy to be here with you today at the invitation of Ate Nelia, President of Batangas Association .
I have been the president of PINOY’S BEST ASSOCIATION since 2008, representing the Filipino community principally in the Rhône-Alpes area, and other cities here like Lille and Paris. We have a few overseas members in New York as well as Amsterdam.
The foundation of our organization is built on a strong solidarity and unity among our members that work in unison to undertake various cultural projects throughout the year, both religious and non-religious in nature.
Events organized by Rev. Fr. Loys de Saint Chamas, Vice-Rector of the Basilica of Fourvière and the Honorary Consul of Lyon, Maître Jean -Jacques Rinck have our full-hearted support because these are movements to disseminate our cultural roots in France, our host country we have adopted to be our own.
And the reason why I stand here before all of you today is a manifestation of such commitment. In behalf of the Filipinos I represent, I enjoin you to support us in the coming important event in Lyon the Installation Ceremony of the Virgin Mary of La Naval de Manila at the crypt of the Basilica of Fourvière in Lyon on December 05, 2010.
Supporting this event in Lyon will signify an immeasurable place in the historical chronicles of the city for it is the first of its kind in the whole of Europe!!!
Supporting the Filipino community in Lyon will signify a holy sanctuary for the growing number of Filipino community not only in France, but Europe as a whole!
Supporting the community in Lyon will signify wide media coverage for the good image of the Philippines!!!!!!!
