PBA to be in charge of the Philippine stand in this year’s Consular Week 2011 Celebration

March 30th, 2011 by Liz, President(e)

PBA to be in charge of the Philippine stand in this year’s Consular Week celebration!!

By virtue of the letter dated 8 March, 2011 of Maître Jean-Jacques Rinck, Consul of the Philippines in Lyon, PBA was designated to host the Philippine stand in this year’s Consular Week celebration. Organized by the city of Lyon as part of its yearly cultural calendar on no less than the main square, its main objective is to gather all consulates present in the second largest capital in France in order to showcase the best of their country for three days. All sixty-nine of them will participate in this year’s 10th year of existence committing each one’s assets expected to dazzle its growing public.

Upon the confirmation of its role in this event, PBA has mobilized its members to create a programme focusing on the highlights of our cultural heritage allowing visitors to a one-stop travel experience to the country: a pictograph summarizing its history from the arrival of the Spaniards to present, its flora and fauna, its pristine tourist destinations, and its intrinsic dances and songs scheduled regularly to entertain the influx of visitors into the stand.

The committee working on the dances and songs has already defined the essential concerns of their tasks and has vowed to dedicate one day a week to practice their numbers diligently until the big celebration. Needless to say, a final programme will be published as soon as available for our members, supporters and Filipino residents and their friends in Lyon and the environs for their reference.
